The Bahrain-based OPMI, a joint venture of the US' Offshore Pipelines and Maritime Industrial Services Company of the UAE, has been formally awarded a $27 million to build a major offshore platform for Saudi Aramco in the Zuluf field. The contract, designated Zuluf tie-in platform five and six, calls for two six-pile platforms to connect pipelines flowing from wells in the field, which is producing about 500,000 barrels a day (b/d) of crude oil. It is one of three large offshore fields in the upper Gulf being developed in Aramco's northern areas offshore programme.
