WiMAX technology got a recent boost when Intel Corp. announced the availability of its first WiMAX chip, adding that multiple service providers would begin commercial WiMAX trials later this year.
"As a standards-based, high-speed Internet access solution, WiMAX can provide the platform for the next generation of Internet expansion," said Scott Richardson, general manager of Intel's broadband wireless division, in announcing availability of the Intel PRO/ Wireless 5116 broadband interface device.
