CHICAGO -- August has been declared Hair Loss Awareness Month for the fifth consecutive year by the American Academy of Dermatology.

It is a campaign to educate hair loss sufferers about the variety of treatments available for the condition and also to encourage people to seek early treatment for hair loss, the organization points out. The academy further states that hair loss is a medical condition that affects 80 million men and women.
