NEW YORK -- Pharmacy compounding has had a historic role in the advancement of the profession and continues to grow rapidly, according to Loyd Allen Jr., chief editor of the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding.
Years ago, he notes, the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry offered a wide variety of dosage forms and strengths for pharmacists, physicians and patients.
But in general, he maintains, that is no longer the case.
