CHESAPEAKE - Six inches. That's how close Oscar Smith came to winning the Eastern Region Division 6 championship last season.
With 1:15 left in the game, the Tigers had just scored a touchdown against Landstown to cut the deficit to one point. Instead of forcing overtime with an extra-point kick, Oscar Smith went for the victory, and the Eagles' defense stopped quarterback Greg Boone short of the goal line.
Landstown went on to win a state title. Oscar Smith went home.
