HANOI, Aug 31 Asia Pulse - The three largest firms in terms of capital and weight on the Vietnam index, the Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corp (REE), the Telecomunication Cables and Material Co (SAM) and the forwarding firm Gemadept (GMD), all rose last week, to propel the index upward.
A further 14 companies rose on the Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Centre, and the Vietnam Index ended the week with a 1.9-point gain to close at 249.74.
REE rose 2.59 per cent to close at VND27,700, SAM by 0.54 per cent to close at VND37,500 and GMD, by 0.2 per cent, the smallest gain among the 17 winning companies, to VND49,000.
