NEW YORK -- Small leather goods manufacturers aren't leaving the merchandising up to retailers any more. While their philosophies and approaches vary, most industry players are getting involved in strategies designed to help stores step up the sell-throughs.
Some manufacturers are advocating a more hands-on approach when it comes to display.
"It's important for customers to be able to touch the items and look over all the features, and, when they're under glass, it's not possible to do that," said Susan Levine, vice president of small leather goods for Koret/Givenchy Inc.
