One of the major difficulties regarding Kurdish literature is its fragmented character. Due to the division of Kurdish societies and the lack of political and national unity, Kurdish literature cannot now be labelled a 'national literature' emanating from a sovereign Kurdish nation-state. Despite considerable Kurdish nationalist sentiments and contrary to the programs of various Kurdish nationalist movements, local and geopolitical conditions have resulted in diverse and disconnected literary productions.
