A survey by Ernst & Young on Global IPO activity has concluded that 2004 was an important turning point for IPO activity around the world, with a rise for the first time since 2000 in both the number of IPOs and the total capital raised.
The survey found that IPO activity roughly doubled over the previous year, with emerging markets continuing to dominate activity, especially the Asia-Pacific region, with Japan, China and Australia all ranked in the top five countries by total capital raised in IPOs in 2004.
