On A Clear Day (12A) Verdict: Not even the Half
Monty ON A CLEAR DAY falls into a category of recent British films - the best of them are The Full Monty and Calendar Girls - wherein beleaguered individuals set themselves goals that are apparently ludicrous but serve to bolster their self-esteem.
It has an immediately appealing hero in Frank. Beautifully played by Peter Mullan as a man coping with emotional pain, Frank is a Glaswegian shipbuilder in his mid-50s who's thrown out of work when his shipyard closes.
Embittered by this latest reverse, Frank is already struggling to recover from the death of his favourite ...
