Sep. 1--STENNIS SPACE CENTER, MISS. -- Ocean City-Wright Fire Chief Randy Brown marched through the crowded halls of the John C. Stennis Space Center late Wednesday afternoon, anxious to find the guy in charge.
More than nine hours had passed since he and two dozen firefighters and paramedics pulled onto Interstate 10 and headed for the Mississippi-Louisiana border.
"We've got people just itching to go," said Brown, who's heading up a team of rescue workers from Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties. "They're strong. The whole deal is to get there and help people. It's frustrating."
