Despite its nearly three-hour running time, first-rate German import The Tunnel is as lean and elemental as its title. This truly amazing true story tells of the first days of the Berlin Wall in 1961 and the enterprising Germans who built an elaborate tunnel from West Berlin into Communist East Berlin to help nearly 30 people escape.
