Real estate dealmaker Joseph Faulkner, president of downtown L.A.'s Knight Frank Faulkner Baillieu brokerage, is starting off the new year by joining CB Commercial Real Estate Services' downtown L.A. office.

In the wake of his departure, KFFB will formally close its local operations on Jan. 31. Faulkner first established the office as The Faulkner Co. in 1982 before striking a partnership with the London-based Knight Frank International real estate services firm six years later.

The other 15 brokers affiliated with the L.A. office, including a pair of co-principals, have suddenly become "free agents."
