Fears of fuel shortage give refiners breathing room
The California Air Resources Board, concerned its impending clean fuel regulations may cause a diesel fuel shortage, might allow some refiners to circumvent the regulations for several years until they can feasibly produce the new fuel.
Local refiners are split over whether the proposal may affect their final decisions on possibly investing millions of dollars to retrofit their refineries to produce the new diesel fuel.
As the ARB regulations now stand, refiners who want to sell their fuel in California will be required beginning this October to reduce the amount of aromatics in their diesel fuel to 10 ...
