Maybe Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. (KKD) needs late-night TV's Jay Leno or David Letterman to turn its image around. Heck, heading to the talk-show circuit for a little self-deprecation has done the trick for a ton of media darlings who have fallen from grace because they'd done something wrong, silly or stupid.
Well, it's worked in most cases. Most recently, love-struck Tom Cruise did it to try to explain his goofy couch-jumping episode on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
