Rozerem (ramelteon, Takeda)
A melatonin receptor agonist for treating insomnia characterized by difficulty with sleep onset. The first hypnotic approved for insomnia with this mechanism of action and the first that is not scheduled as a controlled substance.
* Recommended Dosage: 8 mg taken within 30 minutes of going to bed. Avoid taking with or immediately after a high-fat meal.
* Special Considerations: Rozerem should not be used with fluvoxamine, a strong cytochrome P450 1A2 isoenzyme (CYP1A2) inhibitor; use with caution with drugs that are less strong CYP1A2 inhibitors. Should not use in patients with severe hepatic impairment; use with ...
