PITTSBURGH -- It was Sunday morning, and Dan Marino needed a quiet interlude before the big game, so he slipped into a neighborhood church.
If the curly-haired quarterback created an unusual buzz, even by his standards, it was understandable: He was decked out in shoulder pads and uniform - No. 13 - and surrounded by a couple of dozen teammates.
But the excitement was only beginning.
As Mass ended, Marino and his buddies marched out of church, and then down the street, led by a contingent of cheerleaders.
Even at age 12, Dan was the man in Pittsburgh.
