NEW YORK-Refrigerators, the leading power user among major appliances, stand to be a prime beneficiary of the increased attention on the federal Energy Star program.
Soaring gas prices and the Energy Policy Act have coincided to stimulate further interest in Energy Star.
To earn the Energy Star logo, a machine must use at least 15 percent less electricity than present standards, and 40 percent less than conventional models sold in 2001.
