CDR Roundup - generating approximately $5 billion in annual sales, hair care ranks as the backbone of health and beauty aids.
Drug chains are by far the dominant retailers in hair care. Last year chain drug store accounted for $1.4 billion in hair care sales, or 28% of category volume.
Other drug store formats push that total even higher. The deep-discount drug stores rang up $618 million in hair care sales, while the independent drug stores generated $155 million.
