With Sarbanes-Oxley forcing auto suppliers into unprecedented accounting analysis, the trick for analysts and investors will be sorting out serious issues and restatements from minor ones.

Accountants and financial analysts expect more companies to restate past financial statements or report "material weaknesses'' in reporting systems.

Recent examples of suppliers that restated results run the gamut from troublesome to minor. There are federal probes into Delphi Corp. and Collins & Aikman Corp. while Visteon Corp. and Metaldyne Corp. had relatively minor re-statements.
