The Annual Conference of the Society of British Printing Ink Manufacturers (SBPIM) is now firmly established as the occasion to review the progress of the British printing ink industry and to consider its future prospects and opportunities. Coming just before the corresponding conference of the European Association of Paint and Printing Ink Manufacturers (CEPE), it is a useful time to consider the Society's relationship to the wider markets of Europe. This year's Conference, held at the Runnymede Hotel, Egham, Surrey on the 15th May, benefited particularly in this respect by inviting Hanns Lentze, Secretary-General of CEPE to address the meeting.
