THIS COLUMN continues the annual tradition of presenting the work of two emerging scholars in professional communication. Linda Brender received a Ph.D. from Wayne State University in 2004 and is a professor of English at Macomb Community College. Erin Karper received a Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2004 and is an assistant professor of English at Niagara University.

Both of these scholars collected data using qualitative research methods.
