I WAS TOUCHED by Lillian Daniel's "Can We Be Friends" (June 14). I too have noticed a distinct uneasiness in others, particularly former acquaintances, whenever I'm introduced as a pastor.
When someone asks, "So what do you do?" I am at times inclined to suggest that "I'm in the human reclamation and redemption business for the survival of the soul." Then I hope I've fully confused them to the point they will respond by saying, "The Cardinals are sure playing good baseball," and we can change the subject.
I have also noticed, with those who know me, particularly parishioners, a distinct uneasiness in inquiring about church business. No one ever asks if ...
