Coopers Brewery, a maker of traditional ales that is often considered the jewel in the crown among Australian brewers, is now the subject of a takeover bid from Australian-New Zealand beer company Lion Nathan Ltd.
Coopers has gone to court to fight the unwanted bid, and has won a decision that would prevent Lion Nathan from buying any more shares in the company.
In its takeover bid, Lion Nathan had valuing the unlisted, South-Australia-based Coopers Brewery Ltd. at 352 million Australian dollars ($266 million).
