HAY, ATKINS, Scarsdale - most of us can rattle off the names of the diets we have loved and lost faster than the names of the men who have broken our hearts.
Yes, the fad and the cad have much in common - both start off filling your head with promises of thin thighs, world peace and everlasting love, and end with fat bottoms, domestic war and lasting heartache.
Fad diets and caddish men should both carry a health warning. Now, at least, the former does, thanks to a top Government adviser.
Claire Mac Evilly of the Medical Research Council declares that fad diets are, well, a fad, a fashion, a flight of fancy.
