Sep. 11--TOKYO -- Japanese trading houses are expanding ties with Brunei, helping the small Southeast Asian nation that is rich in liquefied natural gas and oil to develop other industries.
Mitsubishi Corp., which has developed a deep relationship with Brunei in LNG, is helping to develop the sultanate's agricultural and fisheries industries.
Other trading firms have begun trying to gain a foothold in the country, with a view to continuing doing business there even after its natural resources are depleted.
Brunei's two main industries of LNG and oil account for about 90 percent of its exports.
