A recent study by the Electrolux Group found that a typical family spends more than 175 hours a month in the kitchen -- nearly six hours a day -- making it the most popular spot by a wide margin for waking-hours activity.
There are many reasons we love the kitchen. For me, it's the coffee (more on that later). Others enjoy cooking, eating and chatting around the table. And, as in the rest of the home, technology is changing how we do almost everything in the kitchen.
We rounded up some advanced small appliances and products that will put a 21st-century shine on any kitchen.
