I just wanted to tell you that M.T. Schwartzman's "Alaska Port Guide" in the June 2005 Cruise Travel was a big help. We just got back from the Inside Passage aboard Princess Cruises' Sapphire Princess. This is the largest ship we have sailed on so far, and a beautiful ship.
The literature says that she holds 2,670 passengers (double occupancy), but our cruise had over 2,800. Onboard you didn't feel crowded, but getting on/off was a mess. Embarking took three hours standing in line; we boarded just in time for the disaster drill. Getting off the ship in port took 30-45 minutes; getting back on was a bit easier, but still had long lines.
