James Brown, Wilson Pickett and Martha and the Vandellas were among the honorees at the recent Fourth Annual Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer Awards ceremony in Hollywood.
The Foundation was founded to preserve the contributions of rhythm and blues artists, provide financial assistance and recognize contributions made by R&B performers.
James Brown was presented the Ray Charles Lifetime Achievement Award for his numerous and legendary contributions to the world of music. Other honorees were Carla Thomas, Hadda Brooks, Solomon Burke, Dave Clark, Floyd Dixon, David "Panama" Francis, Erskine Hawkins and Little Anthony and the imperials.
