Sep. 12--Students of Wasilla High School will have the opportunity to enroll in the state's first official construction career academy beginning in 2006, a year ahead of schedule.
The Associated General Contractors of Alaska and the Matanuska-Susitna School District are working with local contractors to develop the program curriculum. Students in other Valley-area schools may enroll in the program beginning in 2007.
The academy will be much like a vocational school program. The major difference, organizers say, is that the entire curriculum will focus around the concepts of construction. In English, for example, ...
