The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) was released to great fanfare in the US on March 24th for $249, making the handheld game console market more crowded than it has ever been. The PSP follows two Nintendo platforms, the Game Boy Advance SP and DS, as well as entries from Nokia and Tapwave.

In addition to being a game player, the PSP is also a portable digital audio and video player. The PSP is Wi-Fi-enabled, allowing for wireless online gaming with players in the same room or in different locations, when accessing a wireless network. The PSP has a Memory Stick Duo slot, and USB and infrared connectivity.
