NEW YORK-For Orian Rugs, the artistic vision of American cultural icon Jerry Garcia has been a key to growing its business.
In January, Orian Rugs showed, for the first time, 22 polypropylene rugs based on the designs of the late Grateful Dead guitarist, frontman and artist. Because response to the collection was positive, the company will introduce four more designs at the October textiles market.
Don Newton, senior vice president of Orian Rugs, said that most people, even fans of the Grateful Dead, are unaware that Garcia also worked as an artist. From 1985 until his death in 1995, Garcia created about 500 pieces in ...
