I am here to say it's not that easy to "find one's self."
In fact, it can be downright eye-opening (read: in-your-face sobering) to discover the self I did find.
In the tradition of pilgrims throughout history who schlepped around Canterbury and the banks of the sacred Ganges River all for the sake of enlightenment, I began a search for what was "missing" from my life and sought to reinvent myself.
Not on the outside, although an extreme makeover would certainly have helped, but on the inside.
