Sep. 15--It might not have the cachet of "Sonoma," but among Colorado wineries, the word "Palisade" is worth fighting for.
Plum Creek Cellars sued DeBeque Canyon Winery in federal court in Denver this week, claiming its rival can't name its wines "Palisade." Plum Creek, whose wines include Palisade Red, Palisade Rose and Palisade White, said DeBeque started selling a C'tes de Palisade wine this year.
Plum Creek's Palisade wines go for $9 to $12 a bottle. DeBeque's C'tes de Palisade sells for about $13 a bottle.
