Bringing your kids to the show?

While couples still make up the majority of boat show visitors, the boating industry's push for more family appeal is beginning to pay dividends for kids and their parents.
It's a matter of economics. "We are acknowledging that we need young families ... they will make our industry profitable, especially as they get older," says Jim Barthold, general manager of the United States Sailboat and Powerboat shows in Annapolis, MD. In fact, Barthold's own kids, now 21 and 9, have been coming to his shows since they were infants. "Crawling around boats in a safe and supervised manner is a good ...
