Romance (Almeida Theatre, London) Verdict: Court room farce goes on the offensive **
EVER since he wrote Oleanna, a play about college sexual politics, more than a decade back, the American playwright David Mamet has been struggling against the straitjacket of political correctness.
That's why, in his latest work - a hypermanic court room farce - he has decided to offend, well, just about everyone. Jews, Christians, gays - you name 'em, he'll insult 'em. But, being an old hand, Mamet is judicious enough to offend with equanimity, thereby demonstrating the absurdity of today's carpingly self-righteous 'communities'.
