CFP Board moves worry educators; Program directors not confident about organization's future.(News)

DETROIT - The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. has found itself at odds with many of the nearly 200 educational institutions that prepare financial advisers and other professionals to take the CFP exam.

At issue, according to sources familiar with the situation, is the overall direction the Denver-based organization has taken since it hired Sarah Ball Teslik as its chief executive late last year.

"We [program directors] don't feel confident about the future of the organization,'' said Cheryl Blackwell, program director for CFP education at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
