Unclean hospitals and long waiting lists are proving key drivers for private medical insurance sales, according to Standard Life Healthcare.
Standard Life Healthcare surveyed the public for its Annual Attitudes to Healthcare survey, which found that 80 per cent believed that cleaner hospitals afforded by PMI was an important benefit.
Similarly, 80 per cent said that not having to wait on NHS waiting lists was a key factor for purchasing PMI. Only 20 per cent said that it was reasonable to wait six months for treatment for conditions such as a hernia or a bad back and 70 per cent said that it was unreasonable to wait more than three months for non-emergency treatment.
