The subject of integrating offspring into family business management has been given only cursory empirical attention. For example, Rosenblatt, de Mik, Anderson, and Johnson (1985) briefly address the process of identifying, attracting, and training a successor (usually male) to the family business. Ward (1987) provides concise guidelines on how to structure offspring's entry into the business and how to guide them beyond such obstacles as their own and their parents' ambivalence about their joining the business.
