Washington, Sep 17 (PTI) In a significant research finding that could pave the way for better approaches in treating malaria, scientists at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development(NICHD) have determined the sequence in which the malaria parasite disperses from red blood cells.
"This discovery provides the groundwork for possible new approaches in treating malaria," Director of NICHD Duane Alexander said.
"The malaria parasite is growing resistant to the drugs used to treat it, and new knowledge is essential for developing strategies to protect against the disease," he said.
