Sep. 20--Broomfield-based Level 3 announced Monday that it won a national contract to help carry 911 emergency calls for Vonage Holding Corp., the nation's largest Internet telephone service provider.
Vonage customers should be able to start using Level 3's E-911 Direct service later this year, the companies announced.
About 1 million customers subscribe to Vonage's Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, phone services.
The Vonage contract is a significant step for Level 3, said Jeff Gaillard, director of local voice services for Level 3.
