The New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority said last week that its chief of staff. Jay Walder, will replace Mortimer L. Downey as executive director and chief financial officer.
Downey announced last month that he would leave the agency to take a senior post with the U.S. Department of Transportation. Downey's resignation becomes effective after he is confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
Because Downey's resignation is not final, Walder will initially serve as acting executive director and chief financial officer. His promotion becomes effective after Downey leaves the state agency.
