SEOUL, Sept 20 Asia Pulse - Abdominal fat, often accumulated by binge drinking or gluttony, can boost the risk of developing heart problems, a poll of doctors showed Tuesday.

According to the survey of 2,672 physicians from 27 countries including South Korea, 60 per cent regarded abdominal obesity as an important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.

The poll was conducted by the World Heart Association and Sanofi-Aventis, a multinational pharmaceutical company.
