Sep. 22--The Desert Hot Springs City Council announced after a closed session Tuesday that it will delay its city manager selection until November after some residents voiced disapproval of the "rush" in the selection process.

"After listening to the public, my close supporters urged me to wait," Vice Mayor Mary Stephens said in a phone interview Wednesday. "Is it the best thing to do for City Hall? Probably not. I think City Hall needs a city manager. But (Interim City Manager Patricia "Corky" Larson) has agreed to stay over until we get the new person on board with the council."
