Sep. 23--Perhaps Scott J. Powell just has some terrible luck.
He opened the Town Crier Cafe on Sept. 11, 2001.
Then he hoped to expand the restaurant by adding an old Mississippi riverboat to the Upper Bern Township site.
The day the 80-foot boat was delivered Feb. 1, 2003 the space shuttle Columbia broke into pieces over Texas.
Today, the boat with its red paddles and towering smokestack can be seen just off busy Interstate 78 near Shartlesville in a hole where Powell had planned to build a manmade pond.
