Chief Minister Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith has announced a comprehensive seven-point plan of action to fight violent crimes in the BVI. In a statement to the people of the BVI Wednesday evening, the Chief Minister said the plan includes external assistance for the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF); increased stop and search by operations; heightened surveillance for persons staying in the Territory illegally, as well as for those who are unemployed or loitering; action to strengthen the police force; a proposal to reactivate the Police Advisory Committee; the addition of 12 police officers to the RVIPF; and quick response to all emergency calls.
