Sep. 24--Marketing aimed at children and teens is almost everywhere: on television, through product placement in movies, in online games, through contests and even in schools.
"Almost all aspects of children's lives now involve one or another kind of advertising and marketing," said Juliet Schor, a Boston College sociology professor and author of "Born to Buy: The Commercialized Child and the New Consumer Culture."
Schor is speaking at the College of St. Scholastica Tuesday on the effects of advertising on children.
A survey of school students in the Boston area indicates those effects can include depression, ...
