Sep. 27--Last week's Beale Street benefit festival raised about $25,000 for musicians displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
Now, relief efforts are continuing with a proposed compilation CD of Memphis music.
As with the benefit fest, proceeds from the CD would go to the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences' MusiCares Foundation, which is aiding displaced musicians.
"We want it to be thematic. We want it to have some relationship to what's going on," said David Less, whose Memphis International Records will pay the pressing costs.
