For Bill Mendello, CEO of Fender Musical Instruments, NAMM's Indianapolis show was an unqualified success; his salesforce had a full schedule of appointments, new products, like the John Mayer Stratocaster and the Gretsch "Irish Falcon" guitar, were well received and the fact that rivals Gibson Yamaha, and Korg were absent, "reduced competition for dealers' attention." Jim D'addario, president of J. D'Addario & Co. was even more emphatic. "We had the best order writing show ever, and that includes anything in Anaheim.
