UK-based retail group HMV Group Plc (LSE:HMV), owner of the chain of HMV music stores and the Waterstone's bookshops, has announced its sales statistics for the first 21 weeks of its financial year commencing 1 May.
The company reported a 4.4% drop in like-for-like sales compared to the prior year period, while total group sales remained static. Total sales for HMV UK & Ireland fell 3.7% in the year to date, including a 9.2% drop in like-for-like sales, but gross margin was maintained, said AFX News.
